We’ve forgotten that our art was to provide solace, to the hearts that weep in the quiet of the night;
Not glorify depression, pain, uncertainty and fright.
We shouldn’t create depression, because that is what sells,
We are supposed to help,
Even if only a few are willing to accept our outstretched hands.
Cause rising out of it needs an artist’s creative bent.
The world has enough pain from the numbers, from the clicking clacking of machines, from pressures of sustenance, from the search of purpose,from disapprovals and rejection, and from long lost love;
Art is an ointment that heals a wound after a fall,
Please, don’t turn it into a heart shattering reminder of it all.
I know it’s okay to be sad,
but if someone says it’s okay to stay there;
Trust me they’re lying,
Cause nothing about depression is glorifying.
If you can,create with your art the tools for the battle to be fought;
Your words have the power to change directions with just a single thought.
And about the stories we share,
Share the ones of the victory that was brought to you by your artistic flair.
Cause an artist is never sad,
Yes, you heard me right an artist’s never sad,
It’s just a myth circulated by some brats.
The day you begin to create,
Your art takes away all the negativity and hate.
As Rumi said, “The wound is the place where the light enters.”
Art is a gift of god, it’s the light that enters to enlighten,to heal;
Don’t mistake it for the wound, don’t worship pain with this exorbitant zeal.
