Why are children judged upon there parents’ salary?

Why don’t we give children the chance to make their own identity and stop judging them on the basis of their parent’s salary?

We often see admission forms that have a column asking about the Annual income of father / Mother? Have you ever wondered why do they ask this?

What I personally feel is that the parents seeking admission in a particular school are quite aware of the fee structure and are willing to pay, then where is the need to ask their annual income.

Why do schools keep the reservation for children belonging to particular religions? For example; Christian school keeping reservation for Christianity and Sikh schools keeping reservation for Sikh children including colleges keeping reservation for Muslim children.

Therefore I strongly believe that rather than asking for the child’s parent salary, they must ask the child’s last year’s progress report.
